Be willing to go to those extremes for your vision

My week has been balls. I am looking forward to Friday more and more everyday. What will I have to look to after Friday? I'm not sure. When I was much younger I used to get really excited about going to concerts, so much that it felt like nothing else after the show would matter and I couldn't put my mind past it. Almost like it would be my last night alive and anything could happen. It was a weird feeling.
Tonite I finished the tags for the SOS shirts. I am glad I have this things to work on because otherwise I'd be shitting myself about things at work. This week I've worked several mornings from 7 to 9, coming back home to nap and going back for 11 or 12 to work to 7ish. It's a bit of a bitch and I think it's taking a toll on my sleeping quota. It sucks how a few small things can drown out a whole lot of good things.
I joined a gym today. Today was my first workout since about 8 months ago. The gym is pretty sweet - it's quiet and clean and the equipment is pretty sick... The last time I had access to good equipment was at hart house in university.
Special thanks this week to: Reign Supreme and Kid Cudi - pretty much all I've been listening to.

fuckin wednesday

- Transplants have another song on a commerical - I think it's for shower heads - I Want it All is the song
- Sean Daley appeared in my goddamn dream last night - he was playing an empty show - he got at me for heckling him - then he sprayed iced tea out of a hose at me and I had a lot of trouble drinking it
- 2 more Sundays until weekends are reclaimed
- Jan is going for the Haunted Don Jail tour tonite, I don't think I can make it
- I make great mixtapes - fuck you

Cross your toes and hope that I don't climb you like an obstacle

The album I was referring to in my last post was You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having. Last night Slug came into my dream. In the dream he made a poster on the spot for me with a sharpie. I couldn't think of a question to ask him until he started walking off. I asked him why he didn't play Little Man and Always Coming Back Home... at the last Toronto show. Too bad I can't remember his answer and I still hate him for it. But at the end of it, I asked if I could buy him a drink. Blaargh.

the perfect escape

Sometimes I feel there are CDs I listen to too much.
So I put them away thinking I'll come around to them in a year.
But then they mysteriously disappear,
and I get anxious as hell.
Today I came across an Onyx video at work.
Holy shit.

Woke up in the morning and I thanked God....

- Dinner with my family
- Darren's extensive collection of mp3s on his ipod being plugged into my itrip - ilike it
- Listening to Transplants and Marilyn Manson in the whip
- Drop-in whiskey with Darren
- Red Stripe beer - the most islandish beer that I think even tops the islandishness of Corona
- Drunk Jenga - hiyoooooooo!
- Sunrise and birds singing on the way into Scarlem last night
- Just saying no to 5am McDonald's drive-thru
- Awesome weather this fine Sunday

Kinda tired again

Audrey just recommended for me to check out Gaslight Anthem and I'm liking them a lot. I've also downloaded:
De La Soul - nike promo thing Thanks Nike!
MF Doom - Born Like This
Ninja Gun - Restless Rubes
Polar Bear Club - Sometimes Things Just Disappear
A Day as a Lion - S/T ep Thanks Darren!
Keri Hilson - In A Perfect World
Ciara - Fantasy Ride Thanks Chris!

Thank god for high speed connections and soulseek. I just listened to part of the Keri Hilson album, and the Knock You Down track is pretty nice. Imagine trying to cop all that at a record store - times have changed since cassette tape singles which were popular not so long ago - god bless the music industry. So, unlike I planned, once again I'm procrastinating the final assignment for my online course. What a bitch. I'll be glad when this shit is overrr. I'm gonna get back to the homework for the first time.

I put some new things on my ipod last night. I used to have a bad habit of waking up at around 2 am and wandering around the house. Now I find myself waking up at around 4 am or so. I have a feeling that I am going to lose my hearing from work... especially during the summer. I raise my voice quite a bit, the kids are noisy as hell, loud music on the way to work and loud music on the way home.

Last night was a good time:
+ being on guest list
+ dynamic duo DJing - nice tunes guys big up
+ DJ role plays with headphone props on the laptop
+ stopping at Molly Bloom's for a minute for liquor
+ pepperoni sticks?
+ all the bands playing
+ funny people
+ moshing with friends

- bohemian beer what is that.
- the turn out was a bit weak
- wanting to stay out later to drink but having to work

Today on the way home I saw Catherine Pan on the road. Wuddup girl! I haven't seen her in ages but I'm supposed to help her with tuning her drums some point in time. Sweet weather today minus the shit rain in the morning, things turn out not so bad now and again huh.
On a side note, everything I've been eating has been tasting bitter as shit. Since yesterday morning. There is something wrong with me or my taste buds. Has anyone else experienced this? It's pretty unappetizing. Thank god I can live on stout and coffee which are already bitter. Maybe I'll dip some grapefruit or bitter melon in stout for dinner tonite. fuck.

Friday night was a fun time for me. I went to my first stag... I went to a bachelor's party before but it wasn't as fun as this one. I arrived at the hall and went right to the bar ordering a double scotch and water. After saying whatsup to the groom and having a cigarette with him and his friends, I didn't really know what to do. I didn't know anyone there and I could only hang out by the bar so much. So I ended up buying 30 bucks of poker chips and playing holdem for most of the night. Poker games usually end up with me losing but I think I'm getting a better handle of the game. At one point I was up about 40 bucks and should've cashed out... but I didn't.

Next Friday is Karloong's birtday party. I'm supposed to be dj'ing, I'm planning on renting some speakers out from Long and Mcquade and have been downloading music alot this past week. BUT... He is planning to rent out a studio which is going to cost a hefty amount and on top of the supply everyone with endless drinks which will end up costing as much as the studio rental I'm sure. On facebook there are only 18 ppl expected including himself and me and some of my friends > , < If it doesn't work out I'm sure he'll be able to spend all the money on copious amounts of booze in a club like most people do. If i don't get to laptop dj for this party, someone please assign me to another party, I don't want to have all these songs on my computer that i'll probably never listen to.

let's go

* Today feels like my Monday. The weekend was good tho! Saturday night especially. I saw Aileen and Martin at their place. I had some absinthe with Martin while Aileen was tapping the Goose. It was nice to see them though, we meet up every couple of months only it feels like. Then, I was off to Lindsay's kegger which encompassed a date auction, Darren playing songs I like and lots of Steam Whistle. I ended the night with Burger King drive thru which is undeniably pretty gross but one of the few 24 hour sources of food in the area. I found that working Sunday was not so bad and that Saturday night partying was accounted for by my supervisor when scheduling me.

* Matt offered some airtime on one of his tracks to me. He sent a track to me and I've been writing a bit everyday but I still haven't recorded anything which will be the harder part.

* Today I meet with the program director for a follow-up meeting to my interview. I'm pretty nervous as the interview itself was still haunting me last night. While the encounter had huge repercussions on my emotional stability, the opportunity has potential to change things for me significantly. We me luck.

* On a side note (yowza):

Welcome Back

22/01/2009

I went to the Trapped Under Ice, Full Blown Chaos, Reign Supreme, Over Power show last night. It was a pretty good time. It's weird to go to shows alone. Though I know people there, they are mere acquaintances and not so much good friends. Anyhow, the show was in a skate park and was a byob joint. I had three tall boys for dinner as the show was right after work. Over Power was a local Oi band - pretty cool sound. I really went to the show for Reign Supreme who played second, they were awesome - great stage presence from the lead singer and the songs were tight, everyone in the small stinky venue went off. I missed Full Blown Chaos, though I was talking to the drummer while having a smoke I didn't feel like going in the main room until Trapped Under Ice. I didn't know any of the songs for TUI, but it was fun nonetheless.

Last night I had some crazy dream. Some girl gave me a sheet with all her information for work/school or something. But I ended up really wanting to call the girl. I had her phone number and email. Finally, figured out that emailing her would be less intrusive. When I looked at her sheet I found that her email was incomplete. Thinking of what to write I went down to the kitchen and looked at the coffee maker. "What is this?" I asked my mom and dad. The coffee was a similar colour to how it is when my dad makes it, really light and it smelled like hot water. Just as I was writing the email/turning the computer on my dream ended. The girl was really hot too I think she was mixed, she had some whack chinese name on her sheet. I'll never know how she feels.

Today I gotta sign up for some online courses to big up my shit, fill my resume, put a thumb on the odds against me. I have to choose between the Spec Ed and ESL courses. The ESL course I took in Ottawa was funky funky, but I'm not sure if Spec Ed is for me... I'll flip a coin in a little while. peace.

Last night Sean Daley from Atmosphere made an appearance in my dream. We were chilling out in a filthy street alley when I asked him for his autograph. He was a cool guy to hang out with for sure. Speaking of Rhymesayers, POS has a new album coming out soon - exciting times. I haven't listed to Atmosphere in a long time considering how I was listening to Guarantees on repeat while I was in Ottawa.

Late last week I downloaded the movie Paranoid Park because someone was talking about it on message board. It's about this skate park that's next to a train yard where all the cool kids ride trains. The kid kills a yard cop and is haunted by it for the entire movie. Last night I found the same movie was playing on TMN. I wasn't expecting a lot but I'm pretty sure the director casted all the kids who skipped drama class accidently. The main kid has the most boring expression on his face for the whole thing. There were also a lot pointless artsy shots in slow motion. So I was wanting to turn it off before it was over.

Next week Wednesday, Reign Supreme and Trapped Under Ice are playing at the Adrift Clubhouse. I'm thinking this will be the hardcore show I go to for the year.
